Ensure that, in consultation with the Crane Operator, deck activities are scheduled not to interfere with helicopter movements i.e. crane to be stowed away during helicopter operations keeping track of all VHF handsets assigned to the vessel and for logging handsets in and out responsible for helicopter movements and maintenance of helideck and equipment Updating charts, manuals, lists of lights etc. OOW when sailing to and from ports of destination is responsible for DP when on duty on the bridge operating of GMDSS equipment onboard being familiar with duties in an emergency situation and being aware of, and abide by companys procedures, policies and instructions and ensure that those under control are complied with be confident, able to assume responsibility and to inspire confidence in crew members be interested in, and able to understand and use, the latest vessel technology be able to cope with being away from home, often for long periods of time be able to work in a team have excellent mathematical ability for navigational calculations have good spoken and written communication skills in English Be calm and decisive in emergencies Be enthusiastic and self-reliant.
